
...to the Providence Best in Show Award Winners
The award for Best Traditional Furniture Body of Work went to Stewart Crick of Stu’s Woodworks based in Manassas, Virginia who reacted by saying, “It’s an honor to have my work recognized on such a big stage.Year in and year out the Fine Furnishings & Fine Craft Shows assemble such a talented and creative field of artists To be recognized as Best in Show is a humbling experience; it’s also a big motivator.”
Robbi Staples of Dartmouth, Massachusetts won Best Contemporary Furniture Body of Work. After receiving his award, Robbi stated, “The talent among the furniture makers who exhibit at this show is immense. To be selected as Best in Show - Contemporary Furniture brings a level of recognition that is one of my top professional accomplishments and validates my work.”
Corey Martin of Peacedale, Rhode Island was pleased to get the Best Traditional Single Piece of Furniture award for his traditional desk and a wildly striped and polka-dotted cabinet by Bart Niswonger of Studio Cochineal in Easthampton, Massachusetts won Best Contemporary Single Piece of Furniture.
The Best in Show Accessory
award was won by Stuart Loten of Loten Art Lighting of Linconville, Maine who said, “I couldn't believe it when I heard I received the award. It was so cool to h ave such a prestigious show give me this recognition.” Edward Loedding a photographer from Brandon, Vermont won Best Fine Art for his transfigured photographic work commented, “While being recognized for my work is flattering, being a member of a community of dedicated, hard-working, talented artists is a much more important award to me.” Theresita Eltz of Theresita Design in Providence, Rhode Island won Best Fine Craft for her painstakingly hand painted ceramics.
The Marc Harrison Award for Marketing Excellence went to Philip Jacobs of Earth & Fire from North Conway, New Hampshire. Student work was recognized with two awards. Michael Greenberg of North Bennet Street School won Best Traditional Piece of Furniture and Martin Goebel of Rhode Island School of Design won Best Contemporary Piece of Furniture.
